Bali advice needed - private villas, beaches, and New Years plans

Main Post:

Hello!

My husband and I are planning our honeymoon to Thailand and Bali. Our itinerary so far is:

Bangkok Dec 19-22

Chiang Mai Dec 22-26

Then we fly to Bali on the evening of the 26th. Here's where I need advice. We want to split the remainder of our trip between Ubud and somewhere on the beach. We fly home on Jan 3.

My first thought was to spend a few days in Ubud (Dec 26-Jan 30), splurge on a private villa, then head to somewhere in Denpasar to relax on the beach to end our trip (Jan 30-3) and be close to the airport. Or we may flip that around and do beaches first, then Ubud since it seems the jungle/villa combo may be more relaxing to end our honeymoon. Still not sure about the order we want.

I have a few questions that hopefully someone has experience with...

Any thoughts on where to spend New Years? I'm imagining it would be quieter in Ubud. We are not super into clubbing but would enjoy a rooftop party or beach for New Years, so maybe Denpasar or Seminyak would be fun?

Which beaches do you suggest? We would like to lay out, relax, drinks in hand, with a beautiful view. Possibly take a surfing lesson. The less crowded, the better.

Would it be worth it to skip Denpasar and instead stay on Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida? Or do a day trip?

Recommendations on private villas in Ubud? Hoping for around $100/night with easy access to the monkey forest and Ubud palace. Our dream villa would feel secluded and have a private pool. My initial searches on Agoda and Airbnb look promising, but I thought I'd see if anyone has first hand experience they can share.

Any advice would be so helpful! Thanks.

No beaches in Denpasar. You probably want seminyak for the beach. (Others have their preferred places too)

TBH though, may be easier to pick one place (you like waking up in mountains or near beach) and just get a car & driver to take you around for the days you want to go out and about. That way you can settle into your chosen villa and enjoy that experience too.

No-where particularly “honeymoon” like that is convenient to the airport so just accept a 1 hour taxi ride whatever.

Facebook groups / Airbnb and google for villa rentals, loads and loads about.

Villas with Private pool closest or on International Drive?

Main Post:

Hi everyone,

Im looking to stay to in Orlando for 2+ weeks, maybe a month. Its the first time my family will be coming. 2 kids and GF. Ive come many times since I was a kid and love it.

I want them to enjoy Disney and the theme parks but I normally stay on 192, near Medieval times.

But this time Id like to stay somewhere we can be close to international drive so they can go on walks and experience the shops there too.

I was wondering if there are any Villas with a private pool close to international drive, maybe 5-10 minutes drive tops. Closer the better

I can only seem to find townhouses /condo’s with no private pools. Or private pools but 20+ minutes away from International drive.

Thank you very much

No, and trust me, you do not want to live or vacation off Sand Lake or I-Drive. Nightmare tourist zone with constant traffic.

Not too expensive villas with private pool and good weather in October?

Main Post:

Hey guys!

So to give some more information.

We (2 aduts, 2 childrens (0 and 2) are finally going on vacation in October after 2 years. But since we got 2 kids now we would like to go to a place where we can rent a villa with a private pool and just relax mainly (and have day trips to other places). The weather should be at least 22-25 degrees celcius, and taking a flight is fine as well!

So far we have looked at:

  • Gran Canaria
  • Tenerife
  • Thailand (beautiful villas, but weather is bad in October :( )
  • Bali (Beautiful villas, weather is semi okay, tickets are expensive tho, 2500 for the whole family)

I thought posting here, maybe one of you got some suggestion as well. Hope to hear from you guys!

Has Indonesia made any announcements of opening Bali?

I see lots of talk but can't find any proof of action yet.

Seeking Recommendations for Resorts/Villas with Private Pools and Beach Access in Bahrain

Main Post:

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a short getaway with my family in Bahrain and am looking for recommendations for resorts or villas that offer overnight stays. We're particularly interested in places that have a private pool and direct access to the beach.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

For my father’s birthday we took the whole family to the grove, pool/beachside, 4 bedrooms. It was alright. We even bbq some tikka/lamb chops.

Impiana Private Villas in Kata Noi [need reviews and opinions]

Main Post:

Hey! My husband booked this place in Kata Noi and as soon as I read the reviews, I had instant regret. There are no recent reviews, no recent social posts, and the reviews about this place are not promising at all. We’ve tried to contact the hotel via email and WhatsApp, but no luck. Has anyone stayed here and can provide an honest review? Are they even in business anymore?! Our booking says non-refundable, but we can’t get in touch with anyone anyway x_X.

Location: Impiana Private Villas Kata Noi, Phuket

Porto Zante Villas & Spa - super luxe & private escape on the lush Ionian island of Zakynthos

Main Post:

Just dropped my review of Porto Zante in r/FATTravel, because this is one is just FAT, no way around it. But I also want to share with y’all in case anyone has a bucket list item for Greece and is looking for a super luxe, private and small escape on the lush Ionian Islands (yes, the Ionian Islands - west of Greece mainland) are super green and lush, in stark contrast to the more famous Cyclades which are much more sparse, stark and have more dramatic cliff lines and less vegetation.

If Kea Island’s design is beautifully modern and somewhat severe to match the stark aesthetic of the sharp cliffs and limited vegetation of the Cyclades - Porto Zante’s vibe is one of warmth and exudes a kind of luxurious, yet quiet homey-ness to mimic the lush, warm nature of the Ionian Islands. As you walk on property it feels like you’re being wrapped in a hug (albeit a very expensive and luxurious one). It's a really special place.

Top Comment: Thanks. I'll stick to the iconic cliffside hotels and views of Mykonos and Santorini. I think that's why (a lot of) people go to Greece - for the iconic white cliff sides. That are they watched Mama Mia a few too many times.
